Hall hire

Our church hall is available for hire.  We have a choice of modern, high quality, accessible community spaces, suitable for small groups or large meetings and including use of kitchens, toilets, and baby-change. Existing users include youth groups, toddler groups, exercise classes, drama and dance groups, support groups, neighbourhood meetings etc.

Unfortunately we are unable to take bookings for private parties at present unless the person booking is a key-holder or the event is related to a church service at VPBC.

The church hall is located on Sylvia Avenue in Bedminster, South Bristol and is convenient for Windmill Hill, Totterdown, Bedminster and Knowle. See the “Find us” page for a map.

1 Community Room users must allow staff access to the office, and reasonable access to the lift for groups using the upstairs Main Hall if required for reason of mobility issues, pushchairs or transporting equipment

2 Only a limited number of chairs and tables are available.  Please specify how many you need at the time of booking.


To hire one of the three available spaces::

  • One-off bookings: £20/hr
  • Regular bookings: £15/hr
  • Regular bookings (daytime): £13/hr
  • Charities: £10/hr (including non-profit organisations for public benefit)
  • VPBC church/congregation members: £10/hr for private events

Your paid period must include time for setting up and clearing away. You must leave the rooms clean and tidy for the next group to use. Invoices are issued at time of booking.  Payment must be made in advance.  Daytime bookings are those that finish by 5.30pm

Minimum charge: £45 (except charities and VPBC members). E.g. a one-off booking of 2.5 hours would meet the minimum, as would a weekly 1hr booking for three weeks.

Refundable security deposit: £50

Note that VPBC is a charity funded entirely by voluntary donations from members of the local community. Our hire charges cover the cost of running, cleaning and maintaining the buildings and keeping them available for community use.

We require a 30 minute minimum gap between bookings to ensure the room is vacated ready for the next group.  Your paid period must also include time for setting up and clearing away.  You must leave the rooms clean and tidy for the next group to use.


Parking is on-street only, and is fairly limited directly outside – visitors may need to use surrounding streets.  Bus numbers 50 and 511 stop right outside.  The car park behind the church is private and does not belong to the church, so please do not use it!


VPBC has public liability insurance covering the use of the buildings, but this does not cover the activities of groups hiring the hall.

  • Hirers providing a service to the public must provide their own public liability cover
  • Any businesses/organisations using the building must provide their own public liability cover, including third-party caterers, entertainers etc brought in for private events.


Bookings can be refunded if you give us 24 hours notice. Remember our bookings are managed by volunteers – please be sensitive to their time by only placing bookings that you fully intend to use.


  • Bouncy castles are not permitted.
  • Permission is needed to serve alcohol. Sale of alcohol is not permitted.
  • Do not use Pins or Sellotape to put up decorations, and do not use Blu-tac on painted surfaces (i.e. only on glass/wood, not on the walls).
